Nottingham Forest has decided to dismiss Steve Cooper from his role as manager, and discussions are currently underway with Nuno Espirito Santo as a potential replacement.

Steve Cooper, the manager from Wales who led Nottingham Forest to promotion in May 2022 through the Championship play-offs, has been dismissed from his position after serving for more than two years. This decision was made due to a series of unsatisfactory outcomes. Forest, currently positioned at 17th place in the Premier League standings, have only achieved one win in their previous 13 matches.

Angelos Marinakis, the owner, extended his appreciation to Cooper for his considerable impact on the club. Marinakis expressed through the Forest website that leading Forest back to the Premier League is an unforgettable moment in the club’s history. The owner also expressed gratitude towards Cooper for his commitment and the strong connection he built with the supporters and the city of Nottingham. Cooper will always be regarded as a friend of the club and will be warmly welcomed at The City Ground.

Forest’s recent performance has raised concerns, as they have only managed to earn one point from their last six matches. Currently, they are just five points ahead of the relegation zone, while Luton, placed 18th with nine points, still has a game to play. According to reports, the club is currently engaged in discussions with ex-Wolves and Tottenham manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, with the intention of him replacing Cooper.

Nuno, who has previously held managerial positions at Rio Ave, Valencia, and Porto, experienced a fruitful period of four years at Wolves. During this time, he successfully led the team to promotion and secured consecutive seventh-place finishes in the Premier League. Additionally, he guided the squad to the quarter-finals of the Europa League. However, his time at Tottenham was brief as he was dismissed within four months due to a series of unfavorable outcomes. After leaving Tottenham, Nuno became a member of Al-Ittihad, a club in the Saudi Pro League. During his time there, he successfully guided the team to win the national championship in the previous season. Unfortunately, Nuno’s tenure was cut short in the current campaign after just 12 matches due to a series of underwhelming displays. Forest is optimistic that Nuno’s expertise and past achievements can bring about a positive change in their luck, as they strive to improve their position in the Premier League standings and secure their place in the top division.
