Mauricio Pochettino draws a parallel between Cole Palmer, discussing the impressive potential of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo during their time at Chelsea.

In an exclusive interview with TNT Sports, Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his belief in the potential of Cole Palmer, stating that the young winger has the capacity to reach the level of Angel Di Maria in his career.

Pochettino praised Palmer’s seamless transition to life at Chelsea, where he has become a key player for the team, contributing to 11 goals in 18 appearances and taking on penalty-taking duties.

Palmer’s impressive performances over the summer, including assisting Curtis Jones’ goal in the UEFA Under-21 Euros final, earned him a debut with Gareth Southgate’s senior squad. With his continued success at Chelsea, Palmer stands a good chance of making next summer’s Euros squad.

Pochettino highlighted Palmer’s position as a left-footer and his similarities in quality to Angel Di Maria, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United winger. Pochettino described Di Maria as an amazing player and a world champion with Argentina in 2022. While Palmer still has a long way to go, Pochettino believes he has the potential to reach Di Maria’s level over time.

Speaking about Palmer’s integration at Chelsea, Pochettino expressed his satisfaction with the winger’s performance from day one. He praised Palmer’s adaptation to the club, teammates, and Chelsea life, describing it as excellent.

Pochettino also mentioned two other talented youngsters under his tutelage at Stamford Bridge, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, both 22 years old. The pair have been starting in midfield alongside Conor Gallagher in recent weeks. Pochettino highlighted their versatility and ability to operate in different zones on the pitch. He believes they have amazing potential and hopes they will play important roles in the future of the club.

The upcoming game between Chelsea and Luton Town on December 30 can be watched live on TNT Sports and discovery+. Pochettino’s team will be looking to continue their impressive form, and fans can tune in to see if Palmer and his teammates can shine once again.
