Real Sociedad 0-1 Real Madrid: Arda Guler’s goal brings Carlo Ancelotti’s team closer to winning the La Liga title.

Real Madrid’s Turkish midfielder, Arda Guler, celebrated with his teammate, Spanish defender Nacho Fernandez, after scoring the first goal of the match against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta stadium. The victory further solidified Real Madrid’s position as they continue their march towards the La Liga title.

In preparation for their upcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich, manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to rest most of his star players. However, the second-string lineup put on an impressive performance.

Despite Real Sociedad dominating possession, they struggled to create clear-cut chances. It was Real Madrid who capitalized on their opportunity in the first half, with Arda Guler calmly side-footing home a cross from Dani Carvajal.

Sociedad thought they had equalized shortly after when Take Kubo found the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul committed by Ander Barrenetxea on Aurelien Tchouameni.

The second half saw few threats to the Real Madrid goal, and with their commanding lead, they are now on the verge of sealing the championship in the next two games.

Currently, Real Madrid sits comfortably at the top of the La Liga table, 14 points ahead of second-place Barcelona. Meanwhile, Sociedad remains in sixth position.
