Juve avoids embarrassment with a last-minute equalizer against the last-placed team Salernitana.

Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus had a frustrating evening during the Serie A TIM match against US Salernitana at Allianz Stadium on May 12, 2024 in Turin. The game was a nail-biter, with Adrien Rabiot’s last-minute goal saving Juventus from a humiliating defeat against the bottom-placed Salernitana.

In the first half, Juventus lacked intensity and paid the price for their lack of focus when Niccolo Pierozzi capitalized on a corner kick and headed the ball into the net, beating goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Despite their poor performance, Juventus did come close to scoring twice in the first half. Dusan Vlahovic’s powerful strike hit the crossbar, while Andrea Cambiaso’s low curler clipped the post.

The home team faced criticism from the fans as they were whistled off the pitch at half-time. However, they came back stronger in the second half. Coach Max Allegri made a triple substitution, and one of the substitutes, Fabio Miretti, came close to equalizing with a thunderous shot that hit the crossbar.

Juventus’ salvation came in the form of Adrien Rabiot’s goal, which came in fortuitous circumstances. Manuel Locatelli cleverly backheeled Samuel Iling Jr’s low corner to Rabiot at the back post, allowing him to guide the ball into the net.

Despite the victory, Juventus’ hopes of securing UEFA Champions League qualification still hang in the balance. Their fate depends on the result of Roma’s match against Atalanta.
