Harry Kane’s Double Propels Bayern Munich to Bundesliga Summit

Bayern Munich claimed the top spot in the Bundesliga with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Heidenheim on Saturday. The star of the show was none other than Harry Kane, who scored twice to break the record for the most goals scored after 11 games. This impressive feat saw him surpass former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski’s record of 16 goals, which was set in 2019.

Currently, Bayern hold a one-point lead over Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, who have a chance to reclaim the top position with a win against Union Berlin on Sunday afternoon.

Leroy Sane once again showcased his exceptional form as he provided the assists for both of Kane’s goals. The first assist came with a well-placed pass inside the box, allowing Kane to find the top corner. Sane then delivered a corner that Kane expertly headed into the net.

Heidenheim managed to pull level with goals from Tim Kleindienst and Jan-Niklas Beste. However, Bayern quickly regained the lead when substitute Raphael Guerreiro capitalized on a rebound to secure an easy finish in the 72nd minute. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, another substitute, sealed the victory for Bayern with a goal in the 85th minute.

Kane’s impressive goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga now surpasses last season’s highest-scoring goalscorers, Christopher Nkunku (now at Chelsea) and Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug.

In other Bundesliga matches, Dortmund suffered a defeat against Stuttgart despite Fullkrug finding the back of the net. Goals from Deniz Undav and Serhou Guirassy secured the win for Stuttgart, who currently sit in third place, with Dortmund trailing behind in fourth.

Darmstadt and Mainz played out a goalless draw, with Mainz sitting in 16th place and Darmstadt just one point above in 15th.

Hoffenheim and Augsburg shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Wout Weghorst scored for Hoffenheim, but Ermedin Demirovic quickly equalized after the restart. Hoffenheim finished the day in sixth place, while Augsburg settled for 10th.

In the evening kick-off, Bochum and Koln played out a 1-1 draw, with Lukas Daschner finding the net for Bochum and Davie Selke equalizing for Koln. Bochum currently sit in 14th place, while Koln remain at the bottom of the table.
