Giacomo Raspadori scores as Napoli move up to fourth in Serie A with 2-0 win over Salernitana
Giacomo Raspadori, the rising star of SSC Napoli, was in jubilant spirits as he celebrated his team’s first goal in their recent Serie A TIM clash against US Salernitana at Stadio Arechi in Salerno, Italy. Raspadori’s goal marked his third consecutive goal in as many games, solidifying his status as a key player for Napoli.
The match was a hard-fought battle, with both teams displaying their determination to secure a victory. However, it was the reigning Scudetto champions who ultimately emerged triumphant with a 2-0 win over Salernitana.
Napoli took the lead thanks to a brilliant through ball from Slav Lobotka, which found Raspadori in a perfect position to unleash a powerful strike into the top corner of the net. The goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, showcased his skills by making a series of outstanding saves to deny Raspadori and Matteo Politano on multiple occasions.
Salernitana, led by Filipo Inzaghi, also had their fair share of opportunities, with Lorenzo Pirola forcing a great save with a header from a corner. However, it was Napoli who continued to dominate the game in the second half.
Rudy Garcia’s men came agonizingly close to doubling their lead when Politano’s long-range shot hit the crossbar. Ochoa once again demonstrated his prowess by keeping out a powerful shot from Piotr Zielinski on the edge of the area following a corner.
Despite making three late changes, Salernitana could not prevent Napoli from sealing their victory. Substitute Eljif Elmas secured the win for Garcia’s side with a beautifully curled shot into the bottom corner.
This victory propels Napoli into the top four of the Serie A standings, while Salernitana remains rooted to the bottom of the table.
