Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace, with Noni Madueke’s last-minute penalty propelling them back into the top 10 of the Premier League.
Noni Madueke of Chelsea was the hero of the day as he celebrated with his teammates after scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot in their Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
The match was evenly contested, but it was Chelsea who pushed harder in the later stages. The breakthrough came in the dying minutes of the game when substitute Madueke was brought down by Eberechi Eze inside the penalty area. Initially, the referee did not give the penalty, but VAR intervened and prompted the referee to check the video screen. After reviewing the footage, the referee pointed to the spot, awarding Chelsea the penalty.
Chelsea had dominated the first half and their efforts were rewarded when Malo Gusto provided a perfect cross for Mykhailo Mudryk to calmly slot the ball into the back of the net. However, Palace managed to equalize just before half time through their star player Michael Olise. Olise controlled Jordan Ayew’s cross with his chest and then unleashed a powerful shot low into the near post.
As the game seemed to be heading towards a draw, Chelsea’s substitutions injected new life into the team. Their late surge paid off, securing them their third consecutive Premier League home win and extending their winning streak against Crystal Palace to 12 matches.
With this victory, Chelsea climbed up to 12th position in the league table, while Palace dropped to 16th, just three points above the relegation zone.
