Casemiro’s Hamstring Injury Confirmed, Out for Weeks

‘Penalty Altered the Game’ – Ten Hag Responds to Home Defeat to Man City

Manchester United’s midfielder Casemiro has been ruled out for “several weeks” with a hamstring injury, as announced by the Premier League club on Friday.

The Brazilian international was substituted at half-time during United’s 3-0 League Cup loss to Newcastle on Wednesday, shortly after returning from a previous injury. Now, he faces another period on the sidelines.

“Due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday, Casemiro will be out for several weeks,” stated Manchester United.

The midfielder’s appearance against Newcastle marked his first in almost a month, following his absence from matches against Copenhagen, Sheffield United, and Manchester City due to injury.

Casemiro joins Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Lisandro Martinez on United’s injury list.

This news arrives at a challenging time for manager Erik ten Hag, who has faced mounting pressure after a difficult start to the 2023/24 season.

United will face Fulham on Saturday, with the match broadcast live on TNT Sports. This comes after consecutive 3-0 defeats against City in the Premier League and Newcastle in the League Cup.

Ten Hag’s team currently sits in eighth place in the league standings, trailing leaders Tottenham by 11 points and sitting eight points outside the top four after 10 games.

In the Champions League, they find themselves in a precarious position, sitting third in Group A at the halfway point of the group stage. This follows defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, as well as a narrow victory over Copenhagen.

Off-field issues have also contributed to the team’s struggles this season, including uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership and the exclusion of Jadon Sancho following a fallout with Ten Hag.
