Bukayo Saka is optimistic that Arsenal can compete for the title after their victory against Spurs.

Bukayo Saka, the rising star of Arsenal, is confident that their recent victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the derby is a clear indication that they have what it takes to win the Premier League this season. The Gunners managed to hold off a second-half fightback from their bitter rivals to secure a 3-2 win.

This result has put them four points ahead of Manchester City, the defending champions, and has increased the pressure on them as they prepare for their late kick-off against Nottingham Forest.

Last season, Mikel Arteta’s side led the title race for a significant period but faltered in April, winning only two out of their last eight matches. As a result, they fell behind City in the standings. However, Saka believes that this time around, they can turn the tables.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Saka acknowledged City’s strength as a team but emphasized that they are not invincible. He stated, “City are an amazing team, but they’re not perfect. Nobody’s perfect. They can drop points. We just need to do our job and see where it leaves us. There’s not much room for error, as they showed last year and in previous years. We’ve got experience now. We learned our lessons last year. We’re ready for the last three games.”

During the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Arsenal displayed clinical finishing in the first half, taking the lead through a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own-goal, followed by goals from Saka and Kai Havertz to make it 3-0. However, their hosts did not give up easily. Cristian Romeo capitalized on a dreadful error from goalkeeper David Raya to pull one back, and a late penalty from Son Heung-min made for a tense finish.

Despite the pressure, Arsenal held on to keep their hopes of clinching their first Premier League title in two decades alive. However, City will secure the top spot if they win all their remaining fixtures. Nevertheless, Saka believes that the victory over Spurs demonstrates the growth the team has undergone in the past year.

Saka expressed his satisfaction with the result, stating, “Maybe last season, that could have ended in a draw. Today we showed that we have the experience now. We can come here and get three points, even when the stakes are high and it’s a massive game. I’m delighted. We know it’s a big derby, and they don’t want to just lose 3-0 at home. Once they got one, the crowd was up, they were up, the momentum shifted their way, but I’m proud of all the boys. They fought to the end and they got the three points.”

He also emphasized the significance of the victory for the fans and the team, stating, “We know what it means to the fans and what it means to us. It means everything. We know this is massive for us, and we’ve got three games to go. We’re going to give it everything and see where it leaves us.”
