Wolves defeated Manchester United 2-0, marking another setback for Ruben Amorim as Bruno Fernandes received a red card during the Premier League match at Molineux.

Bruno Fernandes endured another frustrating afternoon as he was sent off for the third time this season, contributing to Manchester United’s woes in a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. The result proved crucial for Wolves, who bolstered their survival hopes with this vital victory.

United’s best opportunity to take the lead in the first half came from Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese full-back unleashed a powerful strike from just outside the box, forcing Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa into a spectacular diving save that kept the scores level. It was a moment that highlighted United’s attacking intent, but they were unable to capitalise on the chance.

Wolves responded with a chance of their own, as Andre Onana was called into action to deny Jorgen Strand Larsen. The striker’s header from a high delivery looked destined for the top corner, but Onana managed to tip it over the bar, showcasing his reflexes and keeping United in the game.

However, the tide turned shortly after the interval when Fernandes received his second yellow card for a foul on Nelson Semedo. The dismissal proved pivotal, as Wolves quickly capitalised on their numerical advantage. Although Strand Larsen’s subsequent shot found the back of the net, it was ruled out for offside following a VAR check, leaving the home fans momentarily deflated.

The breakthrough finally came for Wolves when Matheus Cunha delivered a corner that evaded Onana, sending the Molineux crowd into raptures. The disbelief on the faces of both the United goalkeeper and Cunha was palpable as the hosts celebrated their first goal.

Despite a late surge from United, which saw Harry Maguire’s header saved by Sa, it was Wolves who struck again. A swift counter-attack culminated in Cunha setting up Hwang Hee-chan, who coolly slotted the ball past Onana to double the lead.

As the final whistle blew, Manchester United found themselves languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, a stark contrast to their storied history. Meanwhile, Wolves celebrated their ascent out of the relegation zone, marking a significant boost in their battle for top-flight survival.
