Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Harry Kane will not be playing in the pre-season match between Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur.

Vincent Kompany, the new manager of Bayern Munich, has confirmed that striker Harry Kane will not be available for the pre-season game against his former club Tottenham Hotspur on August 3 in South Korea.

Kane had a successful individual season in Germany, scoring an impressive 44 goals in all competitions. However, Bayern fell short in the Bundesliga title race, finishing behind Bayer Leverkusen.

The 30-year-old also played a key role in helping England reach the final of Euro 2024, although they were ultimately defeated by Spain. Despite his contributions, Kane’s performance throughout the tournament was largely underwhelming, with a back injury hampering his form. Additionally, it was widely acknowledged that his playing style did not align with Gareth Southgate’s preferred tactics.

Under the guidance of new manager Kompany, Bayern will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign. They have a pre-season game against German side Duren before heading to South Korea to face Spurs.

The two teams will meet again a week later on August 10 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Kompany hinted that Kane’s return is more likely for the game against SSV Ulm in the first round of the DFB Cup on August 16.

Kompany stated, “Harry Kane, along with Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman, won’t be there, but hopefully they will be back for the first cup game.”

Kane left Tottenham as the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer, with an impressive tally of 280 goals in all competitions. His decision to join Bayern was driven by a desire to win trophies before retiring, but the team failed to secure any silverware in the disappointing 2023/24 season.
