He has it all – Yamal backed to become a football legend by De La Fuente

In a surprising turn of events, United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino has firmly ruled out a return to Tottenham Hotspur to replace the recently sacked Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou’s departure came after a dismal Premier League season, where Spurs found themselves languishing in 17th place. Despite the disappointing league performance, the 59-year-old Australian did manage to secure the club’s first silverware in 17 years, leading Tottenham to victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final. This triumph ensured that the north London club would compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy decided to part ways with Postecoglou, leaving the club in search of a new manager. Pochettino, who previously managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, took the club to a Champions League final in his last full season. After his tenure at Spurs, he had stints at Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea before taking charge of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) in October 2024.

The 53-year-old Argentinian is now focused on leading the USA in their 2026 World Cup campaign, which will take place in North America next summer.

When addressing the media, Pochettino was clear about his intentions, stating, “Today it’s not realistic. Look where I am. Look where we (his backroom staff) are. The answer is so clear.” He acknowledged the ongoing speculation surrounding his name, saying, “Since I left in 2019, my name has always been on the list of rumours. I’ve seen the rumours; there are 100 coaches on the list. Don’t be worried about that.”

While he dismissed the idea of an immediate return, Pochettino did leave the door open for a potential comeback in the future, adding, “If something happens in the future, you for sure will see. But I am so happy in this moment, and we cannot talk about this type of thing.”

As Spurs embark on their search for a new manager, the football world will be watching closely to see who will take the reins at the club.
