Sam Kerr, the Chelsea forward, has agreed to extend her contract with the WSL champions until 2026.

Chelsea forward Sam Kerr has committed her future to the club by signing a contract extension that will see her stay until the summer of 2026. The Australian captain has been a key figure in Chelsea’s success since joining in 2019.

During her time at the club, Kerr has amassed an impressive collection of silverware, including five Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, and a Community Shield. Her goal-scoring prowess has been evident, with 99 goals in just 128 matches for the Blues.

Unfortunately, Kerr has been sidelined since January due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which has also ruled her out of the upcoming Olympics. Despite the setback, Kerr expressed her delight at extending her stay at Chelsea.

In her own words, Kerr said, “It’s really exciting and a very proud moment for me. Having the opportunity to stay at a club like Chelsea means a lot to me. I’m really excited to continue to push and to try to win trophies.”

Chelsea’s women’s general manager, Paul Green, also spoke highly of Kerr, describing her as a leader and one of the world’s best strikers and goalscorers. He emphasized her importance to the team’s success and expressed anticipation for her return from injury next season.

Next season, Chelsea will defend their WSL title under the guidance of new manager Sonia Bompastor, who replaced Emma Hayes. Hayes left the club to take over as the head coach of the United States national team.
