Real Madrid defeated Stuttgart 3-1, with Kylian Mbappe scoring on his Champions League debut for his new team as the reigning champions triumphed over the Bundesliga club.
Kylian Mbappe marked his UEFA Champions League debut for Real Madrid in style, netting a goal as the Spanish giants edged past Stuttgart with a 3-1 victory at the iconic Bernabeu Stadium.
The French forward wasted no time in making his presence felt, finding the back of the net just a minute into the second half. He expertly slotted home a cross from Rodrygo, sending the home crowd into raptures. However, Stuttgart refused to be cowed and equalised in the 68th minute through Deniz Undav, who headed in to level the score and give the Germans a glimmer of hope.
As the match wore on, it appeared that Stuttgart might secure a well-deserved point to kick off their group stage campaign. But in a cruel twist of fate, former youth star Antonio Rudiger emerged as the hero for Madrid. The German defender rose above the Stuttgart defence to flick home a corner from Luka Modric with just seven minutes remaining, sending the home fans into a frenzy.
To add insult to injury for the visitors, Endrick came off the bench in the dying moments to seal the win. The young Brazilian’s speculative effort from distance found its way past Alexander Nubel deep into stoppage time, extinguishing any remaining hopes for Stuttgart.
Despite the victory, Carlo Ancelotti’s defending champions looked somewhat disjointed at times. Their star-studded attack is still finding its rhythm, but the Madrid faithful were treated to the sight of their new talisman, Mbappe, scoring on his Champions League debut in the famous white shirt.
It was a night to remember for the Frenchman and a promising start to his journey with Los Blancos.
