Rasmus Hojlund will be returning to play for Manchester United against Liverpool, while Erik ten Hag confirms that Marcus Rashford is ready to take on Everton.
In the upcoming match against Everton, United will have the services of Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans, as confirmed by Ten Hag. This news comes as a relief for United, who suffered a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City in their last Premier League derby.
Rashford, who scored a stunning goal in the derby, was substituted due to injury with 15 minutes remaining. Despite having only six goals in 33 appearances this season, the England international remains a key player for United. Evans, on the other hand, continues to impress in his second spell with the Red Devils, making 11 starts in the Premier League so far.
Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of the Everton match, Ten Hag said, “That’s the good news, Rashford and Evans have recovered after the derby, so they are available.” However, Omari Forson will be absent from the squad due to injury.
United currently has several players in the treatment room, including Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, and Lisandro Martinez. But there is hope for Ten Hag as he expects Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, and Hojlund to be available for the game against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals next week.
Mason Mount is also expected to return shortly after the international break. Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in the summer, has been sidelined since November with a calf problem. Despite playing only eight league games for United, he is eager to make an impact upon his return. However, United has certainly missed Hojlund in their recent losses against City and Fulham. The young striker was in fantastic form before a muscle issue sidelined him. He became the first Dane to win the Premier League Player of the Month award in February, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in six games.
Now, Hojlund will be aiming to help United defeat a resilient Liverpool side in the FA Cup quarter-finals and secure a place in the final four. United has struggled against Liverpool in recent encounters, winning just one of their last six matches against the table-topping Reds.
