Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has been introduced as the new Fenerbahce coach, signing a two-year contract.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have made a major announcement, as they officially introduced Jose Mourinho as their new manager. The 61-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Istanbul-based Super Lig side.

The grand unveiling took place at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Sunday evening, where Mourinho addressed the fans, saying, “Your dreams are now my dreams.” The stadium was filled with enthusiastic supporters who welcomed Mourinho with constant cheering and noise.

Mourinho has been without a job since his departure from Roma in January, with the Serie A team struggling in ninth place. Prior to his stint at Roma, Mourinho was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur. During his time at Roma, he led the team to two sixth-place finishes in Serie A and guided them to consecutive European finals. They emerged victorious in the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022 against Feyenoord but lost the UEFA Europa League final in 2023 to Sevilla.

Mourinho takes over from Ismail Kartal after Fenerbahce narrowly missed out on the league title to their bitter rivals Galatasaray by just three points. Speaking to the supporters in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul, Mourinho expressed his gratitude, saying, “First of all, I want to thank you for your love. The love that I feel from the first moment where my name was connected with Fenerbahce.”

He continued, “Normally a coach is loved after victories, in this case, I feel that I am loved before victories. And that for me is a big responsibility that I feel, and I promise you that from this moment, I belong to your family. This shirt is my skin. Football is passion and there is no better place to feel that passion.”

Mourinho also emphasized his desire to contribute to Turkish football and the Turkish league, but stressed that his main focus is on Fenerbahce. He stated, “From the moment I signed my contract, your dreams are now my dreams.”

Before taking charge at Fenerbahce, Mourinho joined TNT Sports’ coverage of the UEFA Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. He provided analysis as part of a star-studded team for the final, which took place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Madrid emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, securing their 15th European crown with goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr.
