Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to break the world transfer record in order to acquire Lamine Yamal from Barcelona, according to reports.
Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly preparing a world record bid for Barcelona’s 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal. The Mirror claims that PSG is set to offer £211 million for the teenager, who is currently representing Spain at Euro 2024 in Germany. This potential bid comes after PSG paid Barcelona £200 million for Neymar in 2017. Yamal is considered one of the biggest prospects in world football and PSG sees him as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta previously revealed that the club rejected a £169 million offer for Yamal from an unnamed club. It is widely believed that the club in question was PSG. Mundo Deportivo now reports that PSG is ready to increase their offer to £211 million, which would set a new world record fee, surpassing the £198 million they paid for Neymar.
In other transfer news, Chelsea is close to finalizing a £30 million deal for Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The Athletic reports that Dewsbury-Hall has agreed to personal terms on a six-year contract with Chelsea. This news comes as a major blow to Brighton, who had been nearing a deal for the midfielder. Brighton had agreed on a £25 million deal plus Poland international Jakub Moder, but the transfer collapsed after Dewsbury-Hall learned of Chelsea’s interest.
Chelsea is also set to beat Manchester United to the signing of Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino. The Sun reports that Chelsea has secured the 19-year-old’s signature for £14 million. However, Anselmino will not join Chelsea for another six months. He is expected to remain on loan with Boca Juniors until the end of their domestic season.
