Mikel Arteta praises the incredible performance of Bukayo Saka, describing him as outstanding, while emphasizing that Arsenal’s dominance over West Ham keeps them in the race for the Premier League title.

Mikel Arteta had nothing but praise for Bukayo Saka after Arsenal’s impressive 6-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League. This victory matched their joint-biggest away league win, which was a 7-1 triumph over Aston Villa in 1935. The result keeps Arsenal in the title race following their win against Liverpool last weekend.

Arteta expressed his delight with the team’s performance, highlighting the significance of making club history and the importance of maintaining their current momentum. He said, “I’m extremely happy. The way we performed, the way we played. Such a big score in a really difficult place tells you a lot about how well the boys played today.”

Saka, despite missing a couple of early chances, redeemed himself by scoring two goals, reaching 100 goal involvements in an Arsenal shirt. Arteta commended Saka’s consistency at such a young age, saying, “What he has done in the last two or three seasons is remarkable. His attitude, his quality, what he delivers every week.. it’s really difficult to find. That’s why he is so important to us.”

Declan Rice, who used to play for West Ham, also found the back of the net but chose not to celebrate out of respect for his former club. Arteta acknowledged the warm reception Rice received from the fans and highlighted his love for the club.

Arteta also praised the team’s collective effort, emphasizing their desire and commitment to get into the box and make things happen. He said, “We have to share the goals. That desire and that commitment to get into the box to make things happen, it was excellent.”

Overall, Arsenal’s victory against West Ham showcases their resurgence after a challenging period in the season. While they still need Liverpool and Manchester City to slip up in order to contend for the title, Arteta remains optimistic about their current form and momentum.
