Manchester United has informed fan groups in a letter that the club may be in danger of violating Profit and Sustainability Regulations due to ticket pricing.

Recent reports from the BBC highlighted that Manchester United had incurred losses of £370 million over the last five years, a staggering figure that underscores the financial turmoil the club is facing. In a bid to mitigate these losses, the club raised members’ ticket prices to £66 and eliminated concessions for children and pensioners last November.

The letter further emphasised that restoring financial sustainability is crucial for the club’s success on the pitch. “We will get back to a cash positive position as soon as possible and we will have to make some difficult choices to get there,” it stated. This board will play an advisory role in shaping proposals that will ultimately be decided upon by the club’s ownership group.
