Luton secured a last-minute draw against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth salvaged a point in the final moments against Sheffield United, and Wolves defeated Fulham.
Crystal Palace were unable to secure a victory against relegation-threatened Luton Town, settling for a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon. Under the guidance of new manager Oliver Glasner, Palace had hoped to continue their recent good form. Jean-Philippe Mateta’s impressive 11th-minute strike appeared to be the deciding factor, as he expertly converted a Daniel Munoz cross with a backheel volley after intercepting a backpass. However, in added time, former Palace winger Andros Townsend assisted Cauley Woodrow in finding the net for a late equaliser.
Despite the draw, Palace have managed to secure a win and two draws in their last four matches. This point leaves them in 14th place in the standings. On the other hand, Luton now find themselves in 18th position, three points behind Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, Wolves continued their impressive run under manager Gary O’Neil with a 2-1 victory over Fulham. Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo both scored in the second half, securing the win for the Black Country side. Fulham’s Alex Iwobi managed to score a late goal, setting up a tense finish to the match. Wolves currently sit in eighth place, while Marco Silva’s men are in 12th.
Sheffield United suffered a setback as they blew a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth. After a devastating 6-0 defeat to Arsenal earlier in the week, Blades boss Chris Wilder decided to give 19-year-old Ollie Arblaster his Premier League debut. Gustavo Hammer gave Sheffield United the lead in the first half, followed by a goal from Jack Robinson in the 64th minute. However, Bournemouth fought back, with Dango Ouattara scoring to make it 2-1. In stoppage time, Eres Unal had a shot cleared off the line before poking home the equaliser. Sheffield United now find themselves in 19th place, 10 points away from safety, while Bournemouth are in 13th place.
In the early kick-off, Manchester United secured a 2-0 victory over Everton, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes from the penalty spot. The evening game will see Arsenal host Brentford.
