Leny Yoro: Manchester United has announced that their new signing will be sidelined for approximately three months following foot surgery.
Manchester United’s new centre-back, Leny Yoro, will be sidelined for three months after undergoing foot surgery, the club has confirmed. The 18-year-old was forced off the pitch after just 35 minutes in a recent friendly match against Arsenal in Los Angeles.
Yoro’s injury comes as a blow to United, who had high hopes for the young defender. The club’s statement on their website stated that the surgery was successful and Yoro’s rehabilitation will begin immediately. They expect him to return to full fitness in approximately three months.
Additionally, Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, who made his return in the same match, also suffered a hamstring issue and will be out for around six weeks. In the friendly match against Arsenal, Hojlund managed to open the scoring for United. However, his goal was soon cancelled out by goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.
Despite the setback, United remain optimistic about their upcoming Premier League campaign. The Red Devils will kick off their 2024/25 season on August 16th with a home match against Fulham at Old Trafford. This will be followed by an away trip to face Brighton and Hove Albion the following weekend. The third weekend of the campaign will see United face their arch-rivals, Liverpool, at Old Trafford in what promises to be an exciting clash.
With Yoro’s absence, United will need to rely on their remaining defensive options to fill the void. The club will be hoping for a swift recovery for both Yoro and Hojlund as they aim to make a strong start to the new season.
