Lamine Yamal’s amazing goal helped Spain come from behind to defeat France and advance to the final.
In a thrilling match in Munich on Tuesday, Spain secured their place in the Euro 2024 final with a 2-1 victory over France, thanks to a historic goal from Lamine Yamal.
The game started with a bang as Didier Deschamps’ French side took an early lead. Ousmane Dembele headed in a perfectly placed cross from Kylian Mbappe, finally breaking the deadlock for France after over nine hours of football in Germany.
However, Spain quickly turned the tide with an incredible comeback. The 16-year-old sensation, Yamal, etched his name in the history books as the youngest goalscorer in Euros history. With a stunning curling shot from 25 yards out, he found the top left-hand corner of the net, leaving the French goalkeeper helpless.
Just four minutes later, Dani Olmo added to Spain’s lead with a thunderous strike that beat Mike Maignan and deflected off Jules Kounde into the net. After some controversy, Olmo was officially credited with the goal, making him the joint-leading goalscorer of the tournament with three goals.
France had their chances to equalize in the second half, with Theo Hernandez and Mbappe both missing the target with powerful shots from inside the box.
Despite the French pressure, Spain held on to secure their spot in the Euros final for the fifth time in their history. They now await the winner of the second semi-final between England and the Netherlands, which will take place on Wednesday.
The stage is set for a historic final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday, where Spain will have the opportunity to make history once again. England and the Netherlands will undoubtedly provide a tough challenge, but Gareth Southgate and his team are dreaming of what is possible as they aim to lift the Euro 2024 trophy.
