Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele shine as PSG edge closer to securing the Ligue 1 championship.
Paris Saint-Germain’s French forward #10 Ousmane Dembele and #07 Kylian Mbappe were the stars of the show as PSG cruised to a 4-1 victory over Lorient in their latest Ligue 1 clash. The win puts PSG one step closer to securing their 12th league title, a record-extending achievement.
Lorient had an early opportunity to take the lead through Aymen Kari, but they failed to convert. It was Dembele who broke the deadlock for PSG with a composed finish in the 19th minute, giving the visitors the advantage.
Just three minutes later, Mbappe showcased his brilliance with a flicked finish to double PSG’s lead. The Lorient defense struggled to contain the attacking prowess of Luis Enrique’s side. However, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had to be on high alert to deny Tiemoue Bakayoko’s header from a corner.
After the break, PSG continued to dominate, with Mbappe turning provider. He displayed his skill by evading Nathaniel Adjei and then set up Dembele for his second goal of the match. The visitors seemed to be in complete control.
Lorient managed to pull one back through Mohammed Bamba’s powerful header, giving their fans a glimmer of hope for a comeback. However, PSG remained resolute and saw out the game with determination.
In the 90th minute, Mbappe put the icing on the cake with a superb curling effort, securing his second goal of the match and sealing PSG’s victory.
With this win, PSG now have their sights set on the title. If Monaco fails to beat Lille in their Wednesday fixture, PSG will be crowned champions once again.
