Juventus have finalized an agreement to acquire Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.
Juventus have made a significant signing by acquiring Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz for a hefty fee of €50 million. According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Italian giants will pay the amount in four instalments. Luiz, a talented Brazil international, has committed to a five-year contract with the Bianconeri.
Last season, Luiz showcased his skills in the Premier League, making 35 appearances for Aston Villa. He contributed greatly to the team’s success, scoring nine goals and providing five assists. Thanks to his efforts, Villa secured a spot in the prestigious Champions League for the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old joined Aston Villa in July 2019 and quickly established himself as a key player. His exceptional performances earned him the title of the club’s Player’s Player of the Season in the 2022-23 campaign.
As part of the deal, Juventus will send Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior to Villa Park. The two players will join Aston Villa for a reported fee of €22 million.
Luiz’s impressive performances in the West Midlands caught the attention of the Brazil national team selectors. He earned his place in the squad and has since accumulated 15 international caps. Currently, Luiz is representing Brazil in the 2024 Copa America.
In addition to his professional success, Luiz’s personal life is also making headlines. He is in a relationship with Swiss star Alisha Lehmann, who is widely expected to follow in his footsteps and join him in Turin.
This signing is undoubtedly a major coup for Juventus, as they secure the services of a talented midfielder who has proven himself both domestically and internationally. Luiz’s arrival will undoubtedly strengthen their squad as they aim for success in the upcoming season.
