Jadon Sancho is still optimistic about securing a permanent transfer away from Manchester United this summer.
Jadon Sancho, the talented forward, is still eager to leave Manchester United following the conclusion of his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. Despite Dortmund’s interest in him, it is unlikely that they will be able to afford his transfer fee, as reported by the Evening Standard.
Sancho had a successful stint at Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists in 137 matches between 2017 and 2021. However, his move to United for £73 million has not lived up to expectations, and he has become alienated from the squad after a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag. Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan in January, where he made significant contributions, including reaching the Champions League final and registering six goal contributions in 21 appearances. The 24-year-old is now hoping for a permanent move away from United this summer.
In other news, West Ham United may face disappointment in their pursuit of two transfers they had hoped to complete for their new manager, Julen Lopetegui. The club had been in talks to sign Brazilian duo Fabricio Bruno and Luis Guilherme, but it seems that Saudi Pro League clubs are now the frontrunners, according to The Sun.
West Ham had agreed on a deal with Flamengo for Bruno to join the club for £12.5 million, while negotiations were progressing with Palmeiras for 18-year-old Guilherme, who was valued at £25 million. However, both players have now attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, who have offered them lucrative contracts.
Meanwhile, Sepp van den Berg, who is keen to leave Liverpool after a series of loan spells, is reportedly being pursued by Wolfsburg. The Bundesliga club was impressed by his performances during his loan spell at Mainz last season, as per the Daily Mail.
Van den Berg, who joined Liverpool from PEC Zwolle in 2019 for £1.4 million, has had loan spells at Preston North End, Schalke, and Mainz. Liverpool now values him closer to £20 million. While several Bundesliga clubs have expressed interest in signing the Holland U21 international, Wolfsburg is considered the frontrunner, especially as they anticipate losing their highly rated centre-back Maxence Lacroix this summer.
Barcelona is also in the market for a midfielder this summer under new manager Hansi Flick. Their first choice is Valencia’s Javi Guerra, although it remains to be seen if they can afford him. However, Marca suggests that Guido Rodriguez of Real Betis may be a more practical option as he is available on a free transfer.
Flick intends to play with two pivots in the centre of the pitch, and Barcelona is looking for a player similar to Gavi, who prioritizes strength and defensive talent. While Guerra has been a long-term target for Barcelona, his transfer would cost around 20 to 25 million euros. Napoli is also interested in him. On the other hand, Rodriguez is currently at a standstill, as Barcelona needs to assess their salary cap space before deciding which player to pursue.
