Graham Potter states that there are no limits to West Ham’s ambitions, provided the club is united, as they prepare for their first home match against Fulham.

**Graham Potter Eyes Ambitious Future for West Ham United**

Graham Potter, the newly appointed manager of West Ham United, took a moment to soak in the atmosphere at Villa Park ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Third Round clash against Aston Villa on January 10, 2025. The former Brighton boss, who succeeded Julen Lopetegui last week, is determined to lift the Hammers from their current mid-table malaise.

Potter’s tenure began on a disappointing note with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, but he is eager to make amends when Fulham visits the London Stadium for his home debut in the Premier League on Tuesday. The match will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and discovery+, and Potter is keen to turn the tide for a West Ham side currently sitting in 14th place, having secured just one win in their last five league outings.

When asked about the club’s ambitions this season, Potter dismissed the notion of a “ceiling” for West Ham. “I don’t like the ‘ceiling’ phrase. We should have ambition,” he stated in an exclusive interview with TNT Sports. “We have a fantastic club here with great support, great people, a supportive board and ownership, and a talented group of players.”

Potter emphasised the importance of unity and alignment within the club. “We have to think about how we bring all that together, how we align that. How does the team play, how does the team identify with this great support we have, how do we connect and build trust there,” he explained. “That’s the start point, and if you have that, then there’s no ceiling, because there is power in that. But it’s easy to talk about it; it’s a lot harder to do. That’s where the work is, and that’s what we have to start with.”

With the January transfer window now open, Potter has the opportunity to make his mark on the squad. While he remained tight-lipped about potential signings, he acknowledged the possibility of new arrivals. “I think there’s scope. There’s always scope, and there has been great support,” he said. “The trick is to identify and choose the right one at the right time, for the right price, etc. But in terms of scope, absolutely. It’s January, and it’s complicated.”

As West Ham prepares for the visit of Fulham, Potter is aware of the challenge that lies ahead. Marco Silva’s side is enjoying a strong season, sitting in ninth place and seven points clear of the Hammers. Potter is ready to face the demands of the West Ham fanbase, stating, “I think that’s part of the benefit of such a passionate support base, and one that knows its football and is knowledgeable. I have no problem with that at all.”

The manager’s task is made more difficult by the absence of striker Michail Antonio, who is recovering from a serious car accident in December. The 34-year-old spent over three weeks in hospital and underwent surgery on a broken leg. Potter has been impressed with Antonio’s resilience during his recovery. “He’s doing his rehab; I’ll see him next week, and I spoke to him this morning. He’s in a good place; I think he’s happy with how his progress is going,” Potter said.

As the Hammers gear up for their crucial clash against Fulham, fans will be hoping for a positive start to Potter’s reign. The match will be live on TNT Sports 4, with coverage beginning at 18:30 UK time ahead of kick-off at 19:30. With the right blend of ambition and teamwork, Potter believes West Ham can rise to new heights.
