Euro 2024: Lewis Hamilton shares his thoughts on England’s prospects before the quarter-finals.

Lewis Hamilton, the British Formula One driver, has expressed his pride in the England football team at Euro 2024, despite the immense pressure they have faced.

The Three Lions are gearing up for their quarter-final clash against Switzerland in Düsseldorf on Saturday, following a dramatic victory over Slovakia in the last 16. Jude Bellingham’s stunning goal in injury time saved England from an early exit, and Harry Kane’s header in extra time secured their place in the quarter-finals.

Although England’s performance in Germany has been underwhelming, with only four goals scored in four games, they have managed to remain undefeated.

Speaking to CNN ahead of the British Grand Prix, Hamilton drew parallels between the pressures faced by the England players and his own experiences as a young British prodigy in Formula One. He acknowledged the weight of the entire country’s expectations and commended the team for their resilience.

Hamilton, who will be making a surprising move from Mercedes to Ferrari at the end of the current season, emphasized the importance of unity and focus for the England squad. He expressed caution in not placing too much pressure on the team, given the heightened expectations that often surround England in major tournaments.

In positive news for England, Bellingham, who was under investigation by UEFA for his goal celebration against Slovakia, has been cleared to play after receiving a suspended one-match suspension and a fine. Additionally, Luke Shaw has been deemed fit to feature, providing Gareth Southgate with a natural left-back option for the first time in the tournament.

If England successfully overcome Switzerland, they will face the winners of the Netherlands and Turkey in the semi-finals, which will take place in Dortmund next week.
