David Coote: Premier League official dismissed by PGMOL following remarks made by Jurgen Klopp.

In a significant development within the Premier League officiating ranks, David Coote has been dismissed from his role by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) following an investigation into his conduct.

Coote’s troubles began last November when he was suspended pending a full inquiry after a video emerged on social media. The footage allegedly captured Coote making derogatory remarks about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, prompting immediate scrutiny of his professional behaviour.

On Monday, the PGMOL confirmed that Coote’s employment had been “terminated with immediate effect.” In an official statement, the organisation outlined the findings of their investigation, stating: “Following the conclusion of a thorough investigation into David Coote’s conduct, his employment with PGMOL has been terminated today with immediate effect.”

The statement further elaborated that Coote’s actions constituted a serious breach of his employment contract, rendering his position untenable. Despite the circumstances surrounding his dismissal, the PGMOL expressed a commitment to supporting Coote, emphasising their concern for his welfare.

Importantly, the statement also noted that Coote retains the right to appeal the decision regarding his termination.

As this story develops, further updates are expected.
