Dani Olmo comes off the bench to secure a victory for Barcelona in his debut.
Dani Olmo, the attacking midfielder for both Barcelona and Spain, had a memorable debut as he celebrated scoring his side’s first goal in the La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano. The match took place at Estadio de Vallecas in Madrid, Spain.
Barcelona started the game with a frustrating opening period, struggling to break down the hosts after Unai Lopez had given Vallecano the lead with a well-executed finish early on. However, the second half saw a completely different Barcelona team emerge from the tunnel.
Barca came close to equalizing when Robert Lewandowski narrowly missed scoring an own goal, and Dani Olmo’s long-range effort crashed against the crossbar from an impressive 35 yards out. The team’s patience eventually paid off when Raphinha found an unmarked Pedri, who skillfully guided the ball past Dani Cardenas to level the score.
Flick’s side thought they had taken the lead when Lewandowski slotted the ball home from close range, but VAR intervened and ruled a foul from Jules Kounde in the build-up. However, Barcelona was not deterred, and Olmo, who had been brilliant off the bench on his debut, put the visitors ahead with a beautifully curled finish.
With this victory, Barcelona has now moved to the top of the La Liga table, putting early pressure on reigning champions Real Madrid, who have also had a perfect start to the campaign.
