Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, advises to be careful following the loss to Barcelona in the pre-season Clasico.
Real Madrid’s pre-season tour of the United States has not gone according to plan, with the team suffering two defeats in their opening matches. The latest loss came at the hands of bitter rivals Barcelona, who secured a 2-1 victory at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Pau Victor, a 22-year-old right-winger, was the hero for Barcelona as he netted a brace to seal the win.
Despite the disappointing results, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is not overly concerned. He stressed that the main objective of the tour is to get the players back to full fitness, rather than focusing on winning pre-season matches. Ancelotti pointed out that the team is currently missing eight players and that the results are not as important as ensuring the players are in good shape.
The match against Barcelona saw some notable performances from players returning from international duty. Luka Modric, who will turn 39 in September, played the full 90 minutes, showing his enduring quality. Brazilian duo Eder Militao and Vinicius Junior also featured after their Copa America campaigns ended prematurely in the quarter-finals.
One player who did not see any action was Rodrygo. Ancelotti explained that the young forward was feeling tired but should be ready to play in the next match. The manager also praised the physical condition of Militao and Vinicius, noting that they have returned from their vacations in good shape.
Real Madrid will now shift their focus to working on tactical aspects of their game, with Ancelotti stating that they will begin this process on August 7th. The team will be hoping to improve their form before the start of the new season and regain their winning ways.
