Authorities apprehend an individual following a vehicle’s crash into a group of people during the Premier League trophy celebration in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police have confirmed the arrest of a British man following a shocking incident during Liverpool’s Premier League title parade, where a car drove into pedestrians.

A police spokesperson addressed the media, urging the public not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incident that occurred on Water Street in Liverpool city centre. They stated, “We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.”

In response to the incident, Premier League champions Liverpool released a statement expressing their concern. “We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening,” the statement read.

The club added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.”
