Arsenal defeated Newcastle 4-1, with Bukayo Saka standing out as a key player for Mikel Arteta’s team as they continue to stay competitive in the race for the Premier League title.
Bukayo Saka, the young talent from Arsenal, was the star of the show as he celebrated scoring his team’s third goal in their Premier League match against Newcastle United. The game took place at the iconic Emirates Stadium in London, England on February 24, 2024.
In a dominant display, Arsenal secured their sixth consecutive victory in the Premier League, closing the gap on league leaders Liverpool to just two points. The match ended with a resounding 4-1 victory for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Despite their midweek disappointment in the UEFA Champions League, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat to FC Porto, Arsenal showed no signs of fatigue. They relentlessly attacked a lackluster Newcastle United, who failed to register a single shot on target in the first half.
The opening goal came in the 18th minute when Sven Botman inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. This followed a brilliant save by Arsenal goalkeeper Loris Karius from Gabriel’s header, which came from a corner taken by the impressive Saka.
Just six minutes later, Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s lead by calmly slotting home a cross from Gabriel Martinelli. Saka, who had already played a crucial role in the first goal, showcased his exceptional dribbling skills before smashing the ball into the net in the 65th minute, securing Arsenal’s third goal of the match.
The rout was completed four minutes later when Jakub Kiwior scored from a corner taken by Declan Rice. Newcastle United managed to salvage a consolation goal in the 84th minute through substitute Joe Willock’s header. However, it was too little, too late for the visitors.
With this victory, Arsenal maintained their position in third place in the Premier League table, accumulating 58 points from 26 games. They are now just two points behind Liverpool and one point behind reigning champions Manchester City, who secured a narrow 1-0 win against Bournemouth.
On the other hand, Newcastle United remain in eighth place with 37 points from 26 outings.
