According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a last-minute move for Conor Gallagher before the transfer deadline, while Miguel Almiron is expected to remain at Newcastle United.

Spurs are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher before the transfer deadline on February 1. Tottenham had previously tried to acquire the England international in the summer but were unwilling to meet Chelsea’s £50m asking price. However, with Chelsea now open to selling Gallagher to comply with Financial Fair Play rules, Spurs may have a better chance of reaching an agreement.

The sale of Gallagher, a homegrown player, would count as pure profit for Chelsea. West Ham United had also made a £42m offer for the 23-year-old last summer, but it was rejected. Gallagher has been an important player for Chelsea this season, captaining the side on occasion under Mauricio Pochettino.

Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron is set to stay at the club beyond this month as Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab failed to meet the asking price for the Paraguayan. Like Chelsea, Newcastle are looking to sell players to comply with FFP regulations, leading to speculation about the futures of several star players. Al-Shabab’s £17m offer was rejected, and it seems they will now turn their attention elsewhere.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe’s hopes of bringing in new signings this month will depend on other players leaving the club as they aim to remain within the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. Bayern Munich had made an approach for Kieran Trippier earlier in the month, but it was rejected, while Callum Wilson has yet to attract any bids despite being put up for sale.

Fulham or Wolves could still reach an agreement with Chelsea for striker Armando Broja before the January transfer window closes. Chelsea are in need of a new No 9 and are looking to raise funds, whether it be in this window or the next. The Blues are demanding £50m for Broja, but both Wolves and Fulham are reluctant to pay that amount. They are hoping a figure below £35m could entice Chelsea into negotiations. West Ham had a £33m bid for Broja rejected in the summer, but they are unlikely to revive their interest. Broja has only scored two goals in 19 appearances for Chelsea since returning from a serious knee injury last year. Chelsea may wait until the summer to bring in a top-level striker, with Victor Osimhen potentially leaving Napoli and open to a move to Stamford Bridge. Other targets such as Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson have also been discussed, with Osimhen being considered as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain if he moves to Real Madrid.

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri is expected to join Granada on loan before the transfer deadline. Pellistri had been hoping for a transfer as he feared he would remain at United for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old was an unused substitute against Newport on Sunday, but it seems his time on the bench will come to an end.

Pellistri is one of only six forwards available to United manager Erik ten Hag in the front three positions, as Anthony Martial is sidelined until April due to groin surgery. Ten Hag has recently favored Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford as the wingers to support striker Rasmus Hojlund. Antony scored his first goal since April against Newport, and Amad made his first appearance for the club in over two years against Nottingham Forest on December 30.
