Youri Tielemans and Kevin De Bruyne assist the Red Devils in making a comeback at Euro 2024.
Belgium made a statement at Euro 2024 with a convincing 2-0 win over Romania in an exciting match in Cologne. The Red Devils showed their class as Kevin De Bruyne sealed the victory with a well-taken goal late in the game.
Despite their dominance, Belgium squandered numerous opportunities throughout the match. Romelu Lukaku, in particular, had a goal disallowed for the third time in the tournament, and both he and his teammates were denied by the impressive Florin Nita. De Bruyne and substitute Leandro Trossard also failed to make the most of their chances to set up their teammates.
In the second half, Romania’s Dennis Man had a golden opportunity to equalize, but his shot was expertly saved by Belgium’s goalkeeper Koen Casteels.
Belgium took the lead just 75 seconds into the game thanks to Youri Tielemans. The midfielder capitalized on a pass from Lukaku and unleashed a powerful shot past Nita. This goal now stands as the third fastest in the history of the European Championship.
With this victory, all four teams in Group E now have three points. The remaining fixtures in the group will be played on Wednesday.
