Vinicius Jr, a Brazilian footballer, expressed his sadness and frustration, stating that he is starting to lose motivation to continue playing due to the racist abuse he has faced before the Spain game.

Vinicius Jr, the talented Brazilian forward for Real Madrid, was overcome with emotion as he opened up about the racism he has endured in football, revealing that it is causing him to lose his passion for the game.

The 23-year-old will be representing Brazil in an international friendly against Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu, which will be played under the slogan ‘One Skin’ as part of an anti-racism campaign.

Vinicius has unfortunately been subjected to racist abuse at various stadiums across Spain in recent years. During a press conference, the young footballer fought back tears as he addressed the issue of racism and its impact on him.

He expressed, “It’s something very sad what I have been going through here. It’s tough. I’ve been fighting against this for a long time. It’s exhausting because you feel like you are alone. I’ve made so many official complaints but no one is ever punished.”

The Real Madrid star continued, “More and more I’m losing my desire to play. But I’ll keep fighting.” Despite the challenges he faces, Vinicius remains committed to his team and his career.

He stated, “I have never thought about leaving Spain, because that would be giving the racists what they want. I will stay at the best club in the world, scoring as many goals as I can so they keep watching me.”

Earlier in the day, Vinicius’ teammate Dani Carvajal expressed his belief that Spain is not a racist country. Carvajal, a defender for the Spanish national team, emphasized the importance of integration and shared his personal experiences growing up in a diverse neighborhood.

He condemned the actions of those who use football matches as an outlet for their anger and called for stricter measures against such behavior.

In response, Vinicius acknowledged that he does not view Spain as a racist country but acknowledged the presence of racists within the stadiums.

He revealed, “From the first time I complained about racism in Spain, it’s been blowing up.. they are insulting me over the color of my skin so I play worse on the pitch. They can say many other things to me and I wouldn’t say anything. I hope I can go to stadiums and not think about what could happen.”

The issue of racism in football continues to plague the sport, and it is crucial that steps are taken to eradicate this despicable behavior.

Vinicius’ bravery in speaking out against racism serves as a reminder that there is still much work to be done to ensure that football remains a safe and inclusive environment for all players, regardless of their race or background.
