UEFA Champions League forecasts: Is it possible for Real Madrid to overcome the bleak predictions from supercomputers when facing Arsenal? What are Aston Villa’s chances?

In the wake of Arsenal’s recent defeat, Jude Bellingham has called for honesty and humility from his teammates. The young midfielder’s words resonate as the Gunners prepare for the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second legs, where the stakes couldn’t be higher.

A supercomputer has crunched the numbers, projecting the likely victors of the ongoing ties and the eventual winner of the prestigious tournament. The quarter-finals have already delivered some thrilling encounters, with Barcelona, Arsenal, Internazionale, and Paris Saint-Germain all gaining significant advantages.

Barcelona, in particular, made headlines by dismantling last year’s finalists Borussia Dortmund with a resounding 4-0 victory. Robert Lewandowski’s brace, alongside goals from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, has put the Catalan giants on course for their first semi-final appearance since 2019.

According to Opta’s analysis, Barcelona boasts an impressive 99.2% chance of advancing to the semi-finals following their dominant performance. Arsenal fans will be heartened to learn that their side has been given an 89.7% chance of overcoming Real Madrid, potentially leading them to their first semi-final since 2009.

Paris Saint-Germain, inspired by the talents of Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, have a 90.9% likelihood of progressing past Aston Villa. In contrast, Unai Emery’s men face a daunting 9.1% chance of turning the tie around.

Internazionale’s prospects stand at 72.6% for reaching the semi-finals, while Bayern Munich’s chances sit at 27.4%.

Looking ahead to the finals, the first semi-final will see the winner of the Arsenal-Real Madrid clash face off against either PSG or Villa. The other semi-final will feature Barcelona or Dortmund against Bayern or Inter.

Opta’s predictions suggest that Barcelona are the frontrunners to reach the Champions League final, with a 54.4% chance, while Inter’s odds are at 35.3%. Arsenal’s chances of making it to the final are rated at 48.5%, compared to PSG’s 44.2%. Bayern’s prospects are currently at 10.2%, with Real Madrid at 4.5%, Villa at 2.8%, and Dortmund languishing at a mere 0.2%.

When it comes to winning the Champions League, Arsenal and Barcelona are currently seen as the most likely finalists, each with a 26.4% chance of lifting the trophy. PSG follows closely with a 23.1% chance, while Inter stands at 16.7%. Bayern’s odds are at 4.2%, Real Madrid at 2.1%, Villa at 1%, and Dortmund finds themselves with a 0% chance of winning the tournament.
