Tottenham Hotspur have finalized the signing of Romanian defender Radu Dragusin from Serie A club Genoa, securing his services until the year 2030.
In a surprising turn of events, Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United on loan. The English winger expressed that he felt it was the right decision for his career at this time. Sancho’s move back to Dortmund comes after a challenging spell at Old Trafford, where he struggled to make a significant impact. This loan move will provide him with the opportunity to regain his form and confidence in familiar surroundings.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signing of Radu Dragusin from Genoa for a reported fee exceeding £25m. The Romanian defender’s arrival was confirmed by the Premier League club, stating that the deal is subject to international clearance and a work permit. Dragusin has signed a contract that will keep him at Spurs until 2030 and he will don the number six shirt.
Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, had expressed his desire to bolster his defensive options early in the winter transfer window. With Micky van der Ven and Cristian Romero both sidelined due to injury, Dragusin’s arrival will provide much-needed depth in the centre-back position. As part of the deal, Djed Spence, who had spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds United, will join Genoa on loan.
Dragusin, at just 21 years old, is highly regarded as one of the most promising defensive talents in European football. His decision to join the Premier League over Bayern Munich has raised eyebrows, highlighting the allure and competitiveness of English football. Having made his debut at Juventus, Dragusin has gained valuable experience through loan spells at Sampdoria and Genoa. His permanent move to Genoa last summer coincided with the club’s promotion to Serie A.
This season, Dragusin has made 22 appearances for Genoa, showcasing his defensive prowess and even contributing two goals from the backline. One of his notable strikes came in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan. On the international stage, he made his senior debut for Romania in March 2022 and has since become a regular fixture in the national team, earning 13 caps.
Tottenham’s acquisition of Dragusin marks their second signing of the week, following the loan arrival of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. With these additions, Spurs aim to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level in domestic and European competitions.
