Torino lost 0-2 to Lazio as Matteo Guendouzi and Danilo Cataldi scored to secure a victory away from home for Maurizio Sarri’s team.

Matteo Guendouzi was the hero for SS Lazio as they secured a crucial victory over Torino in the Serie A TIM match at Stadio Olimpico di Torino. The French midfielder opened the scoring, followed by a goal from Danilo Cataldi, to seal a 2-0 win for Lazio.

Torino, who had been unbeaten at home in the league since October, failed to capitalize on their first-half dominance and remained in 10th place. Lazio, on the other hand, closed the gap to the top four to just five points with this victory.

After their recent success in the UEFA Champions League, Maurizio Sarri’s men were back in domestic action. However, they had only won one of their previous four league games and were immediately put under pressure as Antonio Sanabria hit the crossbar early on.

Despite Torino controlling the first half, their lack of goal threat up front proved to be their downfall. Lazio took advantage of a fast start to the second half, with Luis Alberto playing a key role in both goals.

Ciro Immobile cleverly left Alberto’s pass for Guendouzi, who fired a low shot past Vanja Milinkovic-Savic for his third goal of the season. Just five minutes later, Alberto’s pass across the edge of the box found Cataldi, who calmly swept the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

Lazio had to endure the final 10 minutes with a man down after Mario Gila received a second yellow card, but they held on for the victory. The win lifted Lazio above Fiorentina into seventh place, just one point behind local rivals Roma.

Torino, on the other hand, missed out on the opportunity to climb above Lazio in the table. This defeat leaves them on the fringes of the race for a place in Europe next season.

Both teams will be in action again on Monday, with Lazio facing Fiorentina and Torino traveling to Roma.
