The Blues came back from a two-goal deficit to secure an exciting last-minute draw against Villa in the Premier League.
Conor Gallagher, the talented midfielder from Chelsea, celebrated in style after scoring a crucial goal to level the score at 2-2 during the Premier League clash between Aston Villa and Chelsea FC at Villa Park.
In a thrilling second-half comeback, Chelsea fought back from a 2-0 deficit at half-time to secure a well-deserved draw. Gallagher’s sensational strike in the 81st minute soared high into the net, leaving the home crowd stunned. This result comes as a relief for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who suffered a devastating 5-0 defeat against Arsenal in their previous match.
Aston Villa took an early lead with an unfortunate own goal by Marc Cucurella in the 4th minute, followed by a sharp finish from Morgan Rogers in the 42nd minute. However, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino must have been perplexed as his young team trailed at half-time despite their dominant performance. Nicolas Jackson’s fine finish was disallowed by VAR for offside, and he also hit the post with a header during a sustained period of pressure.
The second half saw Chelsea continue their dominance, with Noni Madueke finding the back of the net in the 62nd minute. Gallagher’s magnificent strike in the 81st minute completed the comeback for Chelsea. In added time, Axel Disasi thought he had secured the victory for Chelsea with a header, but VAR correctly ruled it out due to a foul by Benoit Badiashile on Diego Carlos.
This draw means Aston Villa fails to achieve a double victory over Chelsea in a league season for the first time since the 1989/90 season. On the other hand, Unai Emery’s team maintains their hold on fourth position in the Premier League. They are seven points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham, with three games in hand, before their upcoming clash against league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.
Chelsea remains one point behind West Ham in ninth place in the league standings.
