In a thrilling turn of events, Son Heung-min could be on the brink of a sensational reunion with former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho. Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has reported that Mourinho, now at the helm of Fenerbahce, has engaged in discussions with the South Korean star, with talks reportedly “at a very advanced level.”

Son, who has dedicated a decade to Spurs, is said to be “open” to the move. Sabuncuoglu took to X to share the news: “Jose Mourinho met with Heung-min Son. The Korean star’s relations with Mourinho are at a very advanced level and he is open to coming to Fenerbahce.” The transfer fee is expected to be around 30 million euros, contingent on agreements in the Far East. If the transfer issue is resolved, negotiations are likely to progress swiftly.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou has praised Son following the club’s recent trophy triumph, expressing his desire for a day like this for the talented forward.

‘No agreement’ between Arsenal and Sesko

Arsenal are reportedly keen to bolster their attacking options this summer, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres emerging as potential targets. However, RB Leipzig are not prepared to part with their 22-year-old Slovenia international without a hefty price tag.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that the Bundesliga club is demanding a fee between £68.3 million and £85.3 million. He also noted that no full agreement has been reached between Sesko and Arsenal regarding a move to north London. “As reported and confirmed: There is NO full agreement yet between Benjamin Sesko and Arsenal. RB Leipzig are demanding €80–100 million,” Plettenberg stated on X.

Arsenal are currently hesitant to meet the €80–100 million asking price, and no official offer has been made as of yet. The Gunners remain in contact with the player’s camp, but personal terms are still under negotiation. Additionally, Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Viktor Gyokeres, with hopes of securing him for the verbally agreed €60–70 million, should Sporting not demand more.

Pogba continues Monaco talks

Paul Pogba has been absent from professional football since September 2023 due to a suspension for failing a drugs test. However, the Frenchman is back on the market this summer after his initial four-year ban was reduced to 18 months. French outlet RMC Sport has reported that Pogba is in ongoing negotiations with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, with the midfielder expressing a clear preference to join them despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

“According to our information, negotiations are continuing with Monaco,” RMC stated. “The player’s choice is clear; his priority is to join Monaco, and discussions are still ongoing regarding this matter.” While Pogba is also attracting attention from Saudi clubs, his preferred destination remains Monaco, who have qualified for the next Champions League.

Barca foresee ‘no problems’ with Williams deal

Barcelona are reportedly optimistic about securing the signing of star winger Nico Williams this summer, despite missing out on him last year. Spanish outlet Marca has claimed that the Spain international has urged Barcelona to reopen negotiations after their previous two offers were rejected.

Williams has a £52 million release clause, which the Catalan giants are prepared to activate. “This June, Barca had moved on from signing Nico Williams, with whom they had reached an agreement a year earlier. However, once again, this time at the player’s insistence, the fire has been rekindled,” Marca reported.

Barcelona are enthusiastic about Nico’s interest in joining the club and are taking steps to arrange the signing, including payment of the release clause, seasonal salary, and registration requirements. The club believes there will be no issues in finalising the deal and is ready to provide assistance if necessary.
