Ruben Amorim stated that Marcus Rashford’s return to form with Aston Villa is ‘positive news’ for Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim has delivered some encouraging news for Manchester United fans, stating that it is “good news” that Marcus Rashford is making a significant impact during his loan spell at Aston Villa.

Rashford made the switch to Villa in January after finding himself out of favour at Old Trafford under Amorim’s management. The forward marked his arrival at the club in style, scoring his first goals in a commanding 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Preston on Sunday. This performance came on the back of starting both matches for England during the recent international break.

Amorim commented on Rashford’s form, saying, “We have a lot of games to play and I am focused on my team and my players, and Rashford is not my player at the moment. But every player that performs well on loan is good news for our club, so we are happy with that.”

United also have two other high-profile players out on loan: Antony at Real Betis, where he has been impressive, and Jadon Sancho at Chelsea.

As United prepare to return from the international break, they face a trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, April 1, which will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and discovery+. The Red Devils have not tasted defeat in the league since February 16, and Amorim is optimistic about maintaining their momentum as they gear up for their first match in 16 days.

“I’m really confident. I feel that the players are more confident, the energy is different,” he stated. “But I also know that this could change with the results. So we are focused on maintaining the energy. We worked on some things that we have a lot to improve.”

Despite their recent successes, Amorim acknowledged that there is still room for improvement. “Even winning the games, we can acknowledge that we have a lot to improve. But we are in a different moment, more confident and ready for this final two months of the season.”

In terms of squad news, defenders Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are expected to be available for selection against Nottingham Forest following their injuries. Mason Mount could also make his first appearance since December, although Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, and Ayden Heaven will miss out.

The match at the City Ground will be followed by crucial league fixtures against Manchester City and Newcastle, alongside a two-legged UEFA Europa League quarter-final against Lyon.

“It’s really important to have all the players available for them to fight, for us to rotate during matches,” Amorim added. “Different characteristics give us different opportunities to win football matches. But I think it’s a very good moment in our season. I know that we will have at least three games in the Premier League now that are really tough. But I think the team is prepared to face those games.”

Currently, United sit 13th in the Premier League table with nine matches remaining in the season.
