Rossoneri comfortably secure victory to strengthen their pursuit of second place.
AC Milan, the current form team of Serie A, may not be in the title race, but they are certainly making their mark. Their latest triumph came in the form of a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lecce, marking their fifth consecutive win in the league and their seventh consecutive victory in all competitions.
The match got off to a blistering start for Milan, as Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud found the back of the net within the opening 20 minutes. This early lead allowed Milan to cruise through the game, all while keeping one eye on their upcoming UEFA Europa League quarter-final against Roma.
In the reverse fixture back in November, Milan had squandered a 2-0 lead against Lecce, resulting in a disappointing 2-2 draw. However, any hopes of a repeat performance were quickly dashed when Nikola Krstrovic received a straight red card just before half-time for a high challenge on Samuel Chukwueze.
The second half of the match was relatively uneventful, with both teams failing to make a significant impact. However, there was a hint of controversy when Rafa Leao scored Milan’s third goal, despite Pontus Almqvist being down with a potential head injury.
With this victory, Milan now find themselves nine points clear of third-place Juventus, who are set to face Fiorentina on Sunday. However, they still remain 11 points behind league leaders Inter Milan, who are edging closer to yet another title.
Realistically, it would take a miracle for Milan to clinch the league title. Their main focus now is to maintain their position at the top of the form table and continue their winning streak in the Europa League.
