Romelu Lukaku once again scores to secure a tie for the away team in the UEFA Europa League knockout stage play-off.

Romelu Lukaku, the star striker for AS Roma, was the hero of the night as he scored a crucial goal to secure a 1-1 draw against Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 first leg match. The game took place at the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam, and Lukaku’s goal ensured that Roma will have the advantage going into the second leg in Rome.

Despite being the runners-up in last year’s competition, Roma faced a tough challenge from Feyenoord in this knockout play-off tie. The atmosphere at De Kuip was electric, and the Dutch hosts gave their all in the first half. Both teams had their fair share of chances, but it was Feyenoord who took the lead just before half-time with a fantastic header from Igor Paixao.

Feyenoord deserved their lead based on their performance in the first half, but Roma came back stronger after the break. Lukaku, known for his goal-scoring prowess, found the back of the net with a goal that came off his shoulder. This equalizer denied Feyenoord the advantage they had fought so hard to gain in their home leg.

In the closing stages of the game, Feyenoord piled on the pressure and came close to scoring, hitting the post in the dying moments. However, they now face an uphill battle as they head to Italy for the second leg. They will need a remarkable result to progress to the round-of-16.

AS Roma, on the other hand, will be pleased with their performance, especially Lukaku, whose goal salvaged a draw for his team. As one of the favorites for the competition this season, Roma will be looking to capitalize on their away goal advantage and secure a spot in the next round. The stage is set for an exciting second leg in Rome.
