**Rodrigo Bentancur Stretchered Off in Carabao Cup Semi-Final Against Liverpool**

In a concerning turn of events during Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool, midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was stretchered off the pitch in the first half. The incident occurred in the sixth minute as Bentancur attempted to connect with a corner. Unfortunately, after failing to make contact with a diving header, he fell to the ground, face down in the penalty area.

Remarkably, there were no opposing players in close proximity when Bentancur went down, leading to immediate concern from both teams. Players from both sides quickly signalled for medical assistance, and after an anxious eight-minute wait, Bentancur was carried off the field. Brennan Johnson came on as his replacement.

At half-time, Tottenham provided an update via social media, reassuring fans that Bentancur was “conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks.” Liverpool also expressed their support, tweeting: “We’re all thinking of you, Rodrigo. Speedy recovery.”

Despite the distressing incident, Spurs managed to secure a 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal from Lucas Bergvall. This result gave them a slender advantage ahead of the second leg at Anfield.

After the match, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou addressed the media, offering an update on Bentancur’s condition. He told Sky Sports: “He is conscious. He was conscious when he got to the dressing room, so obviously we took him to hospital just to get checked over. It’s worrying and always a concern, but from what I know at this stage, he’ll hopefully be okay.”

When asked about his team’s ability to maintain focus following such a distressing incident, Postecoglou reflected on the challenges they have faced this season. “It’s just our lot at the moment. We’re having to deal with adversity all the time. We started the game awfully well, almost scored just before that moment, and then obviously we lose a key player in those circumstances. This lot are nothing if not resilient; they just keep going, and they did today.”

As the football community rallies around Bentancur, all eyes will be on his recovery and the upcoming second leg of the semi-final.
