Roberto De Zerbi is determined to remain at Brighton.
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by confirming his desire to stay with the Premier League club. Despite being linked with managerial positions at Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Barcelona, De Zerbi expressed his love for Brighton and his intention to continue building on the team’s recent success.
Speaking to Sky Sports, De Zerbi stated, “I think I would like to stay in Brighton because I love my players. I love this city. I love my club, my fans.” He emphasized his passion for the team and his contentment with the current situation.
De Zerbi received praise for seamlessly taking over from former boss Graham Potter and implementing his high-tempo, entertaining style of football. Brighton finished sixth in the league last season and made their debut in the UEFA Europa League this year.
While this season has not been as successful in terms of league position, with Brighton currently sitting in 13th place, it has still been a historic campaign for the club. They reached the last-16 of the Europa League, where they were eliminated by Roma.
De Zerbi expressed his desire to compete with a team that can play his preferred style of football. He acknowledged the challenges faced this season, particularly in terms of player fatigue and injuries. He believes that with a squad capable of rotation, Brighton could have performed better in the crucial stages of the season.
Despite the setbacks, De Zerbi admitted to feeling pain over the mistakes made this season. He acknowledged that mistakes are a part of football and life but expressed his hunger for success and his determination to learn from these experiences.
Brighton’s tough run-in begins with a match against Aston Villa on Sunday, followed by fixtures against all the teams in the Premier League top eight. It will be a challenging end to the season for De Zerbi and his team as they aim to finish on a high note.
