Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup, with Kylian Mbappe scoring on his first full appearance for the team.
Kylian Mbappe had an impressive start to his Real Madrid career, scoring on his debut as the team secured a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final in Warsaw. This win marked Real Madrid’s sixth time lifting the trophy, setting a new record.
In the first half, Mbappe had a relatively quiet performance. Isak Hien blocked his shot in the 15th minute, and both teams had their chances to score, but were denied by the woodwork.
There were some close calls for both teams before halftime. Eder Militao deflected Marten de Roon’s cross against his own crossbar, and Rodrygo hit the bar just before the break.
Atalanta came close to scoring within two minutes of the second half, but Thibaut Courtois made a fantastic save to deny Mario Pasalic’s header.
However, it was Real Madrid who finally broke the deadlock in the 59th minute. Vinicius Junior displayed great speed as he sprinted past Berat Djimsiti and then passed the ball to Federico Valverde, who easily tapped it into an empty net.
Overall, it was a successful debut for Mbappe and a well-deserved victory for Real Madrid, showcasing their dominance in European football once again.
