Real Madrid and England are concerned about the health of midfielder Jude Bellingham following a possible leg injury.

Jude Bellingham, the talented midfielder, may be forced to sit out England’s upcoming Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland due to a recent injury sustained in league play, according to an announcement from his club.

Real Madrid, in a brief statement released on Friday, confirmed that Bellingham had undergone tests conducted by their medical team, which revealed a leg injury that could sideline the England international for approximately four weeks.

The statement from the club stated, “Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg.” Real Madrid also stated that they would continue to monitor Bellingham’s fitness.

When asked about the situation at his press conference on Friday morning, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti remained tight-lipped, simply stating, “he’s had a knock, they’re evaluating him.”

Real Madrid, the reigning Spanish and European champions, were only able to secure a draw in their first La Liga match of the season, with full-back Ferland Mendy receiving a late red card in a frustrating 1-1 draw against Mallorca.

Before the international break, Real Madrid will face Valladolid at home on Sunday, followed by an away match against Las Palmas on Thursday night. Their final game before the break will be against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium next Sunday. It is expected that Bellingham will miss all three of these matches.

As a result of his injury, Bellingham’s availability for Lee Carsley’s first game as interim manager of England against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, which marks the beginning of the new Nations League campaign, is now in doubt.

England is scheduled to face Ireland on Sunday, September 7, before hosting Finland at Wembley on Tuesday, September 10.

Bellingham played a crucial role in England’s journey to the final of Euro 2024 in Germany this summer, scoring a last-minute overhead kick against Slovakia to send the match into extra time, where Harry Kane ultimately scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory.

Unfortunately, England would go on to lose the final 2-1 to Spain in Berlin. Following the match, Gareth Southgate announced his decision to step down as England manager.
