Paulo Dybala scored three goals as Roma defeated Torino in Serie A, continuing their impressive streak under the management of Daniele De Rossi.
Paulo Dybala, the Argentine forward for AS Roma, emerged as the hero of the match as he scored a remarkable hat-trick to secure a 3-2 victory over Torino at the Stadio Olimpico. This crucial win keeps Roma’s hopes of qualifying for European competitions alive.
Under the guidance of manager Daniele de Rossi, who was overseeing his eighth game in charge, Roma displayed a slightly disjointed performance but managed to avoid any major consequences from their lack of rhythm. On the other hand, Torino, currently positioned 10th in Serie A, failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
With this victory, Roma has closed the gap on Atalanta in fifth place to just two points, enhancing their chances of securing a European spot.
Dybala played a pivotal role in this triumph, converting a penalty just before halftime to give Roma the lead after Saba Sazonov fouled Sardar Azmoun in the box. However, Torino quickly responded as former Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata scored an equalizer with a trademark towering header from Raoul Bellanova’s cross, just two minutes after Dybala’s goal.
Nevertheless, Dybala showcased his brilliance once again in the 57th minute, unleashing a powerful left-footed strike into the bottom corner, leaving Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic helpless. Dybala completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute, securing possession of the match ball with a precise strike from a tight angle that found the far corner of the net.
Despite Torino’s late efforts, including Dean Huijsen’s own goal in the 88th minute to reduce the deficit, Roma displayed their experience and held on to secure all three points.
In the other Serie A fixture of the evening, Fiorentina will face Lazio, a match that can be watched live on TNT Sports 1 and discovery+.
