Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, is determined to push the Premier League club to new heights and create a masterpiece like the Mona Lisa.
Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has expressed his desire for his team to create a masterpiece during his tenure at the Premier League club. Glasner, who took charge in February, has already led the team to one victory, two draws, and two losses, placing them 14th in the league table.
Since their promotion to the Premier League in the 2013-14 season, Palace’s highest position has been 10th, while their lowest was 15th. Glasner believes that the club must be united in their pursuit of higher finishes in the league.
Speaking ahead of Palace’s match against Manchester City, Glasner emphasized the importance of shared ambitions within the club. He stated, “We have to go the same pathway. We have to paint the same picture then it can be one Mona Lisa. But if everyone paints what he wants then it’s maybe not such a nice picture.”
Glasner acknowledged Palace’s consistent presence in the Premier League over the past decade, but he wants the team to take a step further and gain more confidence. He emphasized the need for continuous improvement and not settling for the same position year after year.
The manager, who previously won the UEFA Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt, admitted that implementing his ideas mid-season has been challenging. However, he praised the character of his players and highlighted the importance of increasing intensity in training and matches.
Glasner revealed that Palace currently ranks 19th in the Premier League in terms of intensity and acknowledged the work that needs to be done. He emphasized the need for players to sprint and make runs both in and out of possession.
The Crystal Palace vs Manchester City match will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1, with coverage starting at 11:00 UK time on Saturday, April 6. Viewers can subscribe to TNT Sports through various platforms such as discovery+, BT, EE, Sky, and Virgin Media.
