Nottingham Forest is contemplating their choices regarding the “highly inadequate” refereeing decisions in the loss to Everton.

In a fiery response to their defeat against Everton, Nottingham Forest has released a statement expressing their dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions and hinting at potential actions they may take.

The club, currently sitting in 17th place in the Premier League table, lost 2-0 at Goodison Park, with goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil sealing the victory for the home side.

Forest specifically targeted Stuart Attwell, the VAR, accusing him of being a Luton fan in a post on X (formerly Twitter). They also claimed that they were denied three clear penalties during the match. Frustration was evident in their statement, as they emphasized their inability to accept the “extremely poor decisions” made by match referee Anthony Taylor.

The relegation-threatened club expressed their prior warning to the PGMOL about Attwell’s alleged bias, but their concerns were not addressed. This latest incident has tested Forest’s patience, and they are now contemplating their next course of action.

The match against Everton was crucial for both teams’ survival in the Premier League, but it was the home side who emerged victorious. Gueye and McNeil’s long-range strikes secured the three points for Everton. However, Forest firmly believed that they had three strong cases for penalties, all involving Everton defender Ashley Young.

In the first instance, Forest claimed that Young made contact with Giovanni Reyna’s foot inside the box. The second potential penalty occurred when a cross struck Young’s outstretched arm in the penalty area. Lastly, Young’s challenge on Callum Hudson-Odoi resulted in the forward being brought down inside the box.

With this defeat, Forest find themselves just one point above the relegation zone. Their failure to capitalize on Luton’s heavy 5-1 loss to Brentford on Saturday has added to their frustration and urgency to secure crucial points in their remaining matches.
